Upcoming appearances and interviews

When Where What

Sept. 18-19, 2010

Portland, OR

Cap'n Slappy will be at the Portland Pirate Festival this year, carousin' with the likes of Jamaica Rose, The Mackay, Cockroach Blair, Quicksilver, Captain Mchael McLed, et al.

Sept. 19, 2009

Frederickstad, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Ol' Chumbucket, Mad Sally and several o' the Junior Chumbuckets are stickin' close to their island home for the holiday. They're once again planning to attend Captain Killy's pirate party at Cane Bay, where "something special" is in the works. Last year's party featured pirate music, plenty of liquid refreshment, knife and flaming ax throwing, cannonball tossing, and more. (Don't you wish you lived on the islands?)

Past gigs include:

  • TLAPD 2009: Cap'n Slappy was guest of honor at the University of Fairbanks, Alaska for TLAPD. He remembers very little about the weekend, which suggests he had a great time.
  • December, 2008 - Ol' Chumbucket had his first public appearance (in pirate guise, anyway) at Undercover books in Christiansted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.
  • The Franklin, Philadelphia - the Pirate Guys spent Talk Like A Pirate Day 2008 as guests of The Franklin in conjunction with National Geographic's Real Pirates exhibit. A fine time was had by all!
  • Pirates' Plunder, Pier 58, Seattle - Cap'n Slappy read and signed copies of the Pirate Guys' newest book, The Pirate Life: Unleashing Your Inner Buccaneer.
  • Riverfront Festival, Albany, OR, August 2008. Cap'n Slappy brought the BOOM pirates and a few other pals down to help set the mood for his home town's first pirate fest.
  • Capricon, Arlington Heights, Ill., February 2008
  • Studio City Tattoos, Los Angeles - Talk Like A Pirate Day 2007, including the world premiere of Pirates of the Great Salt Lake.
  • PyrateCon New Orleans, LA. Cap'n Slappy, Ol' Chumbucket and Mad Sally were guests of honor at PyrateCon 2007, the conference of Pyrates, Buccaneers, and Privateers! They had a fantastic time (well, as far as they can recall.
  • Oregon Historical Society's 39th annual Holiday Cheer and Authors Party, featuring authors from all over Oregon.
  • Emceed for the Bite of Portland, a benefit for the Special Olympics
  • Book signing, Books Without Borders, Eugene, Ore.
  • And lots and lots of interviews

Bring the Pirate Guys to your gig

With the recent relocation of the Chumbucket clan to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, the Pirate Guys' availability for free appearance is, shall we say, limited. Day jobs permitting, the guys are available for a limited number of paid gigs, assuming travel and lodging are covered. Contact Mad Sally with inquiries.

For local (Oregon/Washington) events, contact Cap'n Slappy.

The closer it gets to September 19th each year, the faster the calendar fills up, so contact us early!
