Cap'n Slappy will spend his first Talk Like A Pirate Day apart from his shipmate, Ol' Chumbucket, in the wilds of Alaska. He's not quite sure where his hosts'll lead him, but on the schedule so far are a Sept. 18 booksigning at Gulliver's Books, three live radio interviews, the UAF Honors Program's Pirate Breakfast on Sept. 19, a book signing at Barnes & Noble from 1-3 p.m., and a stage show in the evenin' broadcast live over KSUA-FM- after which, says host Cap'n Chuck, "we can all get drunk." Full details here.

Sept. 19, 2009 |
Frederickstad, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands |
Ol' Chumbucket, Mad Sally and several o' the Junior Chumbuckets are stickin' close to their island home for the holiday. Sept. 19 is a cruise ship day in Frederiksted, which means about 3,000 tourists will be hitting the island. Ol' Chumbucket will be down at Polly's at the Pier, a coffeeshop/restaurant/alehouse on the waterfront, selling and signing books, singing a bit and generally getting in the way.
That evening Chumbucket and Mad Sally will attend a major pirate party at Cane Bay on the north shore. Sponsored by their friend Captain Killy, These gatherings run from 9 p.m. to 9 the following morning. There'll be LOUD pirate music, plenty of liquid refreshment, knife and ax throwing, cannonball tossing, and more. (Don't you wish you lived on the islands?) |

With the recent relocation of the Chumbucket clan to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, the Pirate Guys' availability for free appearance is, shall we say, limited. Day jobs permitting, the guys are available for a limited number of paid gigs, assuming travel and lodging are covered. Contact Mad Sally with inquiries.
